Some frayed corners and book edges but there are neither bends, folds, or foxing of the pages. The cloth is lighter in several spots on the front and the black lettering on the spine is faded for several letters. Although there is no first edition designation on the copyright page, the reasons for this being an early printing because the poem on page 50, "The Gypsies are Coming" is present. (The title was appropriately changed in later editions to "The Googies Are Coming.")
